Dr Richard Standish graduated with an MBBS from Melbourne University in 1994, and commenced Anatomical Pathology training in 1999 at the Royal Free Hospital (London) – one of the major UK liver transplant centres. He completed his training in 2006 – including time working in research on image analysis measurement of liver fibrosis. He attained Membership/Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), and worked as a consultant in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at the Royal Free Hospital.
He returned to Australia in 2008, working in Geelong and at the Austin Hospital, before joining Dorevitch Pathology in early 2016.
Dr Standish was the first Associate Professor and Coordinator of Pathology Studies in the School of Medicine at Deakin University. He has been a supervisor of pathology trainees and a standard setter for the RCPA Basic Pathological Sciences examination, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology Society (President 2020) and the convenor of the committee setting the RCPA QAP Gastrointestinal Specialist Module.
