Dr Maryam Shamassi completed her Medical Doctorate (MD) in Iran, before moving to Australia in 2006. She worked at multiple hospitals in Queensland as a Medical Officer, before moving to Melbourne to pursue her career in Pathology. Following training as a pathology registrar at Monash Medical Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital as well as Healthscope Pathology, she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2016. In 2019, Maryam spent six months at John Radcliff Hospital in Oxford, UK, doing a research fellowship in medical renal pathology.

Maryam enjoys all aspects of anatomical pathology with special interest in renal pathology, gynaecological pathology and uropathology. She is also very passionate about research and teaching.
