Biography

Emeritus Professor Jack Metz graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. His career highlights have included being Professor of Haematological Pathology at the University of Witwatersrand, Chairman of the School of Pathology and Director of The South African Institute for Medical Research. After moving to Australia, Professor Metz accepted a role as Director of Haematology at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Director of Haematology, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Professorial Fellow University of Melbourne. He has served on three separate World Health Organisation expert committees and is a life-long Honorary Consultant Haematologist with the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
