In 1978 Gillian changed to medicine and specialised in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology and then worked as Infectious Diseases Physician at the Princess Alexander Hospital and then as Director of Pathology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. Gillian's role at Dorevitch is to give advice to Medical Practitioners on the meaning, significance and management of important microbiology results, giving advice on appropriate diagnosis and treatment on a wide range of infectious diseases. Gillian is also involved in the management of the laboratory to ensure the clinical relevance and quality of the outgoing results.
Gillian also works as an Infectious Diseases Physician at the Austin Hospital. This enables her to maximise her clinical skills, which she uses in giving advice to Medical Practitioners in her role at Dorevitch Pathology.
Gillian's areas of special interest are MRSA and the epidemiology of this organism in hospitals and the community, and the pharmacodynamics of antibiotics and appropriate dosage regimens.
