Dr. Afaq Khan is a specialist Histopathologist and Cytopathologist who graduated with Honours from Monash University in 1981, obtained his fellowship in pathology and FMGMS in 1988, and his fellowship in cytology in 1992.

He completed his training as an intern at the Alfred Hospital in 1982. From 1983-85 he lectured in Pathology at Monash University Department of Pathology and Immunology at the Alfred Hospital.

Following this, he worked as a Pathology registrar at Western General and Prince Henry's Hospitals, from 1986-88. From 1989-93 he was a Consultant Pathologist at Gribbles Pathology and from 1993-95 Deputy Director of Pathology, Mercy Hospital for Women and Head of Pathology, Werribee Mercy Hospital. Afaq joined Dorevitch Pathology in 1995 and is the Pathologist in Charge - Knox Private Hospital.

Afaq's areas of special interest include cytopathology, gynaecological pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology, tumour pathology,immunopathology, and medical informatics.
