Electronic Data Processing (EDP)

VDU Operators - input request slips and test results, communicate results to physicians and designated health care personnel, and respond to inbound and outbound calls for results and other purposes.

Coagulation Administration - duties include maintaining patient prothrombin files, communicate results to physicians and health care personnel and also respond to calls for results and other purposes.

Pathology Collection

Dorevitch Pathology who provide service from our collection centres, hospitals, nursing homes and in private homes.

Our Pathology Collectors are responsible for:

Blood collection (evacuated or non evacuated)
Skin or capillary blood collection
Urine collection
Other routine pathology specimen collection
Swab collection
ECG, holter monitor & blood pressure, monitor collection
Performance of respiratory function test and urea breath tests

Collectors may also be responsible for additional duties such as venepuncture, collection from hospital inpatients, autologous collections, arterial blood collection, blood gases, mantoux testing.

Position Requirements: Division 2 Nurse, or Certificate 3 in Pathology Collection

Pathology Courier

Our Couriers drive vehicles on assigned courier rounds to pick up and deliver reports, samples, specimens, stock, x-rays and items of a similar nature.

The position is entrusted with goods or articles for delivery to and from customers and staff receive adequate training to fulfil the requirements of this position.

Employment status: Full time, part time, and casual/relievers
Position Requirements: Current drivers licence, customer service skills, literacy & numeracy skills.

Laboratory Assistant

Laboratory Assistants undertake work in our laboratories including the sorting, tracking, evaluation and handling of specimens and paperwork. Other duties include cleaning, washing and preparing equipment, chemicals and similar duties.

For the more experienced Lab Assistants, their tasks may also include the taking of blood samples and the performance of designated medical testing procedures.

Position Requirements: Good organisational and communication skills. Technical skills capable of working in all facets of a multi-sectional laboratory as necessary, including the taking of blood samples.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Medical Laboratory Technicians perform diagnostic medical testing procedures and record and report results of tests. They ensure efficient and prompt sorting, processing and testing of specimens in our laboratories.

For the more experienced Medical Laboratory Technician their duties include overseeing and training other staff and taking on some more complex duties within the laboratory.

Position Requirements: Certificate or Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory) or equivalent

Scientist

Scientists working with Dorevitch Pathology ensure efficient processing and testing of specimens, and interpret and validate results associated with this testing. Our scientists also participate in research and development of new tests, implementation of new instrumentation and procedures or the revision of existing procedures. They provide guidance and advice on clinical and scientific issues to other scientists, pathologists, patients and referring doctors.

Position Requirements: Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science or equivalent qualification recognised by professional bodies such as AIMS, ASM, AACB.
